Trellix Mobile Threat Defense uses an on-device engine to detect known and unknown mobile threats.

Trellix Mobile Threat Defense protects large organizations and their employees from device vulnerabilities, network-based attacks and risky or infected applications.

Trellix Mobile Threat Defense is easy to install and operates in user mode. The Trellix Mobile Threat Defense app does not collect personal information about the user or share enterprise information with third parties.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Trellix Mobile Threat Defense activation instructions:
1. Download the free app from the iTunes store.
2. Open the app and enter the credentials provided to you by your organization OR click the activation link in the email that your IT administrator sends you.
3. You are ready to go.

• Safari Extension for Anti-Phishing and Content Filtering: With this release, Trellix extends anti-phishing and web content filtering capabilities to the Safari browser on mobile iOS devices.
The app provides a Safari extension as an alternative method to provide continuous protection from malicious and risky links displayed by the Safari browser. The app installs a Safari extension that you can manually enable to give the necessary permissions that allow it to run on browser pages.
This feature also requires the Phishing Protection policy or the Enhanced Phishing Protection plus Web Content Filtering policy to be enabled in the mobile console.
• Anti-Phishing with the SMS Messages: With this release, Trellix extends the anti-phishing capabilities to the Messages app on mobile iOS devices.
This provides an alternative way for users to be continuously protected from risky links in SMS text messages. This feature filters a risky link for SMS messages in the Messages app before a user can click it, and all blocked messages are viewable in a single tab in the Messages app.
Note
This feature works only with SMS and MMS messages from unknown senders. It does not work with messages from senders in a user’s Contacts list or with iMessages from any source. The SMS message detection is done only on the device itself, and no content from SMS messages leaves the device.
• App Overview: This release has an application overview set of screens that the user can scroll through to become familiar with the benefits of Trellix Mobile Security.
• Additional Tutorials: This release has new tutorials to help the user. The tutorials cover these topics:
o Adding a phishing check to your share shortcut.
o Enabling Safari Protect extension.
o Enabling SMS filtering.
• Jailbreak Protection Enhancements: This release has enhanced jailbreak forensics which includes the family classification for the identified jailbreak for additional risk context.
• Threat Detection Improvements: These threats are improved to have additional threat protection:
o Rogue Access Point – This threat has enhancements to detect a rogue Wi-Fi network in more situations.
o App Tampering – This threat has enhancements to the detection and mitigation of injected app hooks in addition to other techniques.
o Device Jailbroken/Rooted – This threat has enhancements in detection and forensics by including the jailbreak families detected.

This release also supports our MVISION Mobile Consoles web content filtering feature for zero-touch activation. The web content filtering feature allows an administrator to warn and protect users from accessing websites and links with specific content.

• Additional Field Information for Threat Events

With this release, these additional forensic threat fields are supported:
Vulnerable OS Version: This is the device's OS version at the time of the threat.

Expected OS Version: This is the device's OS version that is expected for the device when reporting the threat.
These field values typically apply to only these iOS threats:

Vulnerable iOS Version.

Vulnerable, Non-upgradable iOS Version.
When a threat event occurs, this information helps customers understand the OS version that the device currently has and the latest available OS version that is expected to be installed on the device.
Note: This feature requires MVISION Mobile Console Release 4.39.x or later.
